 a) The vowel sounds change:

EX:   goose→ GEESE       foot → FEET    tooth→ TEETH          mouse → MICE         louse→ LICE                     woman→WOMEN


 b) Some words DO NOT CHANGE:

EX: sheep → SHEEP      fish→ FISH          means→ MEANS species→SPECIES         series→ SERIES

 c) Words ending with –f→  -VES :

EX:  wife →WIVES       knife→ KNIVES      leaf → LEAVES  thief → THIEVES      life → LIVES

 d) Words ending with –o → -OES :

EX:   hero → HEROES           potato→ POTATOES           tomato→ TOMATOES

e) Some have a Latin plural form:

EX:  cactus→ CACTI     larva → LARVAE

f) Words ending with –on →  A

EX: criterion → CRITERIA

 g) Words ending with –is→ -ES

EX:  crisis →CRISES    thesis→ THESES
 analysis → ANALYSES
